Tour 4 DELHI - KHAJURAHO - RISHIKESH - DELHI 16 Days

This tour is a sensory feast with its emphasis on beauty, spiritual places and nature. We will visit pristine places of natural beauty - forests teeming with wildlife, glimpses of the Himalayas and experience the Ganges River in significant holy places.

MON 8th Arrive in Delhi - Transfer to hotel. Hotel in DELHI

TUES 9th - Day 1 Exploring Old and New Delhi, visiting the "must see" sights, including its colonial monuments, mosques and temples, particularly the exquisite Bahai Lotus Temple. Hotel in DELHI

WED 10th - Day 2 Taking the early train to Agra to have an interesting day in the massive Agra Fort and the "Baby Taj". Hotel in AGRA

THUR 11th - Day 3 An early visit to the stunning Taj Mahal to capture the pink rays of dawn on the pure white marble. See its magic unfold as the sun picks up the intricate detail of the inlaid precious stones. We take a flight to Khajuraho - a shrine to Tantric love and the Kama Sutra set in beautiful countryside. FRI 12th - Day 4 We spend the morning exploring the palace complex in this quaint picturesque village before driving to Khajuraho – a shrine to Tantric love and the Kama Sutra. Hotel in KHAJURAHO

SAT 13th - Day 5 See many temples featuring erotic sensuously carved figures of heavenly nymphs, which have shocked many people from Victorian archeologists to blue rinse tourists. Hotel in KHAJURAHO

Holy Men

SUN 14th - Day 6 Relax with a rooftop breakfast and maybe an Ayurvedic massage before flying to Varanasi - India's spiritual heart set on the mighty Ganges. Watch the sunset and the evening ceremony of lights from the river. Hotel in VARANASI

MON 15th - Day 7 A dawn boat ride will reveal the many pilgrims bathing in the river to wash away a lifetime of sins. Wander down twisting narrow alleys, past shrines and temples and experience the holiness of this unique and fascinating city known for its beautiful silks. Hotel in VARANASI

TUES 16th - Day 8 After a relaxing morning, we fly back to New Delhi and have a free afternoon exploring the main bazaar. Hotel in DELHI

WED 17th - Day 9 A drive to the famous Corbett Tiger Reserve with its abundance of wild animals and migratory birds, and maybe even a glimpse of the elusive tiger from the back of an elephant. Hotel in CORBETT

THURS 18th - Day 10 Enjoy the beautiful setting of the wildlife park before the drive to picturesque Nainital - set in a steep forested valley by a deep green lake. This attractive upbeat hill station was founded by the Brits during the Raj, as it reminded them of the Lake District back home. Hotel in NAINITAL

FRI 19th - Day 11 Explore Nainital with its great food, take a horseback ride or a paddle on the lake. A perfect place to chill out. Hotel in NAINITAL

SAT 20th - Day 12 Drive to Haridwar, located on the point where the Ganges emerges from the Himalayas. See many pilgrims bathing in the fast flowing waters in this very holy Hindu site. Hotel in RISHIKESH

SUN 21st - Day 13 Rishikesh, a beautiful peaceful traffic - free area known for its many Yoga ashrams. Join in with many devotees for the magical evening lights ceremony on the banks of the river. Hotel in RISHIKESH

MON 22nd - Day 14 Start the day with some yoga, have an Ayurvedic massage or just chill out with a good book. Or perhaps white water rafting on the Ganges River and a light trek to a waterfall for the more active in the group. Hotel in RISHIKESH

TUES 23rd - Day 15 Drive to Chandigarh, India’s version of Canberra (with cows!) This planned city has a most significant recycling programs with the Fantasy Rock Garden, junk art at it’s best. Hotel in CHANDIGARH

WED 24th - Day 16 After going by train back to Delhi we spend the day doing some last minute sightseeing and shopping before leaving for the airport for flights home. TOUR ENDS
